Antoni Matuszny, who came from the Beskid village of Laliki, was interested in photography since he was a child. As he recalls, he wanted to save the life of his family and the countryside in the 1970s from oblivion. At the age of thirteen, he bought the first camera, and when he was 24 – the camera of the Soviet Quarz 5. A film made in the village of Laliki in 1984. A family equipped with blankets, provisions and scythes is walking through a field. The daughter of Antoni and Elżbieta, Paulina, is spending time on the blanket together with Basia, daughter of Antoni’s brother-in-law, Marian Brączyk. The adults are mowing the grain with scythes and with the help of a mower belonging to Marian. The girls walk around the field with Basia’s brother, Michal. Antoni is assisted in mowing the field by his wife Elżbieta, mother-in-law Elżbieta Wojciuch, sister-in-law Jadwiga, brother-in-law Marian and Elżbieta Wojciuch’s brother-in-law Jan Krauz. The family is enjoying a meal outdoors during a break from work. (KN, AT)
