The author of the film is Zbigniew Hassa. Since the age of 14, he had worked as an electrician in Warsaw Trams (then MZK). When his daughters, Joanna and Katarzyna, were born, he decided to start filming events from the life of the family.
New Year’s Eve party in the apartment of the Hassa family in Warsaw’s Wilanów district. The film shows Zbigniew Hassa, his wife (Irena) and their daughters (Joanna and Katarzyna). Kasia’s hair is combed into two ponytails. She holds a glass with a colorful drink and sends a kiss to the camera. Sitting next to a dressed Christmas tree, Joasia, also with a glass in her hand, waves to the camera. A close-up of the Christmas tree and New Year’s Eve decorations hung from the ceiling: a garland, a balloon, a heart made of cardboard with the date 1989. The girls toss confetti. Irena Hassa (in a bright tunic and glasses) sits down at a table where we can see a bottle of champagne. Her daughters sit next to her. They clink their glasses. Sitting on the couch, Zbigniew fools around with Kasia in front of the camera. They play with sparklers. The sisters sit on a couch covered with a patchwork bedspread. The first one holds a book in her hand. The second one eats a cookie. Shots from the apartment: a decorated Christmas tree, the turned on TV, Irena putting something in the closet. A bookcase with a glazed display case and in it all kinds of glasses and Christmas cards. Through the ajar door to the bathroom, we can see Kasia washing her hands in the sink. Kasia and Joasia play with rag creatures. Behind them, we can see a desk on which there is a small decorated Christmas tree and an office lamp.
