description

Zbigniew Bełżecki (1914–2009) worked by day as a chemist in the research department of the Cracow Pharmaceutical Plant “Polfa”. His film archive consists of records of trips with his wife Jadwiga and daughter Marzena, as well as motorcycle trips around Europe.

The trips were always preceded by long preparations, and after their completion Zbigniew wrote down the recorded audio diaries and created books from them on his own. He was also passionate about nature and photography.

A film from the cusp of the 60s and 70s from a one-day recreational trip to Ojców. At that time, people worked from Monday to Saturday, so only Sunday was left for weekend trips. The film opens with shots of vegetation – as Marzena recalls, Zbigniew Bełżecki was crazy about yellow flowers. There are genre scenes from a car trip in a characteristic burgundy Syrena, as well as scenes with Marzena as the lead role – painting the landscape, dancing a routine in a bathing suit and dancing in a red sports outfit in a cloud of gray, thick smoke (this is a characteristic special effect of Zbigniew, who, in order to increase the visual qualities of the film, added some wet leaves to the fire). The shots are partially filmed from a tripod
