Matuszni Family Archive

Antoni Matuszny, who came from the Beskid village of Laliki, was interested in photography since he was a child. As he recalls, he wanted to save the life of his family and the countryside in the 1970s from oblivion. At the age of thirteen, he bought the first camera, and when he was 24 – the camera of the Soviet Quarz 5.

Film shot in Cięcina and Laliki Kubaszczyki on the wedding day of Antoni Matuszny and Elżbieta Wojciuch in August 1979. 

Shots from the bride’s family home in Cięcina. Elżbieta ‘s mother, Elżbieta Wojciuch, prepares sandwiches in the kitchen. Wedding guests arrive to pick up Antoni at the family home in Laliki. The newlyweds stand in the courtyard in front of the house in Cięcina. After the ceremony in the old church in Cięcina, the newlyweds receive wishes and presents. During the outdoor wedding party, everyone is having fun and dancing. Antoni with Elżbieta and the invited guests pose for a collective photograph.
