Antoni Matuszny, who came from the Beskid village of Laliki, was interested in photography since he was a child. As he recalls, he wanted to save the life of his family and the countryside in the 1970s from oblivion. At the age of thirteen, he bought the first camera, and when he was 24 – the camera of the Soviet Quarz 5. Film shot in Laliki Kubaszczyki in the winter of 1975. Barbara, Teresa and Bernadka, together with their mum (Antoni’s sister, Anna Brączyk) and dad (Marian Brączyk), are spending time outdoors near the farm of their grandparents, Paulina and Ludwik Matuszny. The girls are also looked after by their grandmother, who keeps an eye on them while they play at home. The family takes walks in the countryside. Jacek and Barbara, children of Antoni’s cousin Jan Karpeta, also spend time on the farm. The adults take care of various farm chores during this time. Barbara, Teresa and Bernadka help their parents and look after their three-month-old brother Michał. (KN, AT)
