description |
The author of the film is Jerzy Łapkiewicz, who filmed the events of his family’s life with a Quarz Zoom camera and Super 8 tape, borrowed from a colleague, who bought it in the Foto-Optyka shop. Part 1 Spring. Toruń, 1981. The film was made in the apartment of the Łapkiewicz family in the Rubinkowo housing estate. Jerzy’s daughters sit at the kitchen table. Ania inflates a balloon. Ola eats cotton candy on a stick. Part 2 Panorama of the Rubinkowo II housing estate in Toruń. The area between the blocks is empty. You can see the soil and the remains of construction piled up in small mounds. There is a baby stroller next to the scattered concrete slabs. Ania and Ola play in the sand. Part 3 The girls, holding hands, walk along a dirt road on the other side of Szosa Lubicka Street. Ola has a kerchief on her head tied below her neck. The sisters run up to a stroller and start driving it. Part 4 The film was made in Rypin, Jerzy Łapkiewicz’s hometown, in 1981. Jerzy’s mother, Sławka, and his wife, Maria, together with the daughters, Ania and Ola, go through a flourishing May orchard, belonging to the Łapkiewicz family. Maria leads her younger daughter, Ola, by the hand. She pushes a small doll stroller with her other hand. The mother takes the daughter in her arms and shows her a flowering tree. The girl touches the flowers. (AT)
