The author of the film is Marcin Kęszycki, who as a teenager documented family and social life with a Newa 2 camera. Short documentary reportage On the market square shot at the Poznań market in 1955 or 1956. Vendors set up their stalls in the market between tenement houses. Shots of vendors and customers looking at a variety of goods. The author of the film recalls: “I was the most proud of catching with my lens a transaction that did not seem very legal…”. When the day’s trading was over, the vendors cleaned up the deserted market and packed the horse carts for departure. “This film taught me voyeurism, which later, when I was already a member of the film club (since 1968), made me particularly sensitive to documentary, of which I am still a fan today.” (AT)
