description

Zbigniew Bełżecki (1914–2009) worked by day as a chemist in the research department of the Cracow Pharmaceutical Plant “Polfa”. His film archive consists of records of trips with his wife Jadwiga and daughter Marzena, as well as motorcycle trips around Europe.

The trips were always preceded by long preparations, and after their completion Zbigniew wrote down the recorded audio diaries and created books from them on his own. He was also passionate about nature and photography.

The second part of the account of the 1978 visit to Rome and Paris. (The first part from the trip is the previous material from the collection – PAFD_0006_016). Zbigniew visits the Villa d’Este in Tivoli and the archaeological park Ostia Antica, the Roman Colosseum. A mosaic of genre scenes from Paris – Notre Dame Cathedral, the Triumphal Arch of the Carousel, the daily life of the locals, the shop windows, the Moulin Rouge and the neon signs in Pigalle Square. Zbigniew also visits the Pompidou Centre, which opened a year earlier. Shots of costumed participants in a carnival procession walking through the streets of the city.
