Janusz Dybkowski (1954–2003) was a photographer and journalist who collaborated with numerous editorial offices, including “Tygodnik Piotrkowski” and “Dziennik Łódzki”. In Piotrków, he documented significant local events and the daily life of the city. His film collection consists of both footage of family life and documentary materials.

Part 1
Scenes from everyday life in Piotrków Trybunalski. A red city bus departs from the stop. A group of young boys is walking down the sidewalk, talking. On a building wall, there is a sign reading: ‘Niech żyje i zwycięża socjalizm’ (‘Long live and triumph socialism’). Shots of many faces and figures—some people hurrying, others slowly strolling along the city sidewalks.
Part 2
A scene by the river. A man in a boat is trying to push off from the shore. Young boys are getting out of another boat. Two men are rowing a boat in the middle of the river.
Part 3
A shot of a newly developing neighborhood of single-family houses and apartment buildings. A woman is getting out of a car parked on an unpaved road. Two men are walking around the neighborhood, talking. A shot of the city entrance road with a sign reading: ‘Piotrków Trybunalski wita’ (‘Welcome to Piotrków Trybunalski’), with a river flowing nearby.
Part 4
A shot of red carnations in a crystal vase and a man reading a newspaper.
Part 5
Scenes from the city’s daily life. Cars, motorcycles, and pedestrians move through the streets. People are sitting down and resting on benches in a tree-lined city square.
