description

Janusz Dybkowski (1954–2003) was a photographer and journalist who collaborated with numerous editorial offices, including “Tygodnik Piotrkowski” and “Dziennik Łódzki”. In Piotrków, he documented significant local events and the daily life of the city. His film collection consists of both footage of family life and documentary materials.
Part 1
Footage from an exhibition organized at the local museum as part of the ‘Piotrków Days’ celebrations. Glass display cases contain archival documents such as maps, inventory lists, bills, and commemorative books. Paintings hang on the walls. A group of people is viewing the exhibition with interest, leaning over the archives.
Part 2
A footage of a street parade organized as part of the Piotrków Days. An orchestra leads the procession. People in period costumes are carrying the city’s coat of arms. Parade participants are carrying emblems and slogans referring to the city’s history. Various folk and children’s groups also take part in the procession, along with representatives of the city’s industrial plants—for example, Piotrkowskie Fabryki Mebli and Fabryka Maszyn Szklarskich “Vitroma” are represented. The celebrations conclude with an artistic performance. On an open-air stage in the city center, a group in period costumes is dancing the polonaise. Other folk ensembles, as well as youth and children’s groups, also take the stage. A large crowd of residents has gathered around the stage. The city is decorated with colorful emblems and small flags. People are crowding the stalls of the fair organized for the occasion.
