Janusz Dybkowski (1954–2003) was a photographer and journalist who collaborated with numerous editorial offices, including “Tygodnik Piotrkowski” and “Dziennik Łódzki”. In Piotrków, he documented significant local events and the daily life of the city. His film collection consists of both footage of family life and documentary materials.
Part 1
A group of several people stands on the sidewalk in front of a building with a Polish flag. More people arrive, and then everyone enters the building to a large hall already filled with seated attendees. On the wall of the auditorium, there is a banner reading: “60 Years of PTTK.” Next, everyone heads to the cemetery, where they place wreaths, bouquets, and flowers on several graves, including those of the Witanowski family (Michał Rawita-Witanowski was the founder of the Piotrków branch of the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society, PTTK), as well as the Dybkowski and Strączyński families. More delegations arrive carrying wreaths and bouquets. A man gives a speech over the grave of the Strączyński family while others lay a wreath.
Part 2
A group of several dozen people is waiting for a bus. Everyone is holding folders with the trip itinerary. The bus arrives, and they all board and take their seats. Upon arriving in Sulejów, the group, led by a guide, visits the ruins of an old monastery and a vast adjoining park. They stop at various locations in the park, the building, and the ruins, listening to the guide’s stories. Through openings in the walls, one can see nearby towns and the smoking chimneys of a factory or heating plant. The tour participants admire the view and take photos. They enter the PTTK museum, which is nowadays housed in the same building.
