description	Janusz Dybkowski (1954–2003) was a photographer and journalist who collaborated with numerous editorial offices, including “Tygodnik Piotrkowski” and “Dziennik Łódzki”. In Piotrków, he documented significant local events and the daily life of the city. His film collection consists of both footage of family life and documentary materials. Shots of the changing of the guard at a monument in a city square. Two soldiers remain on duty at the memorial flame. Banners, flags, and the national emblem are visible on the surrounding buildings. People gather around and then form up for the May Day parade. A group of people steps onto the platform, and one of the men delivers a speech from the rostrum. On the adjacent sidewalks and balconies, more people have gathered, waiting for the parade to begin. A shot of the parade. Various professional groups—such as nurses—are marching, along with representatives of industrial workplaces, veterans, scouts, women gymnasts, athletes, students, and children. One can see banners from workplaces and schools, as well as small flags, Polish national flags, balloons, flowers, and red poppies. Some participants are waving pennants and small flags. The parade also includes motorized vehicles, such as tractors and combine harvesters. Spectators line the sidewalks, while in the windows of the tenement houses one can see pennants with the eagle emblem, national flags, and a portrait of Władysław Gomułka. A fire brigade band is playing.
