description

Janusz Dybkowski (1954–2003) was a photographer and journalist who collaborated with numerous editorial offices, including “Tygodnik Piotrkowski” and “Dziennik Łódzki”. In Piotrków, he documented significant local events and the daily life of the city. His film collection consists of both footage of family life and documentary materials.
Footage from the May Day parade. Shots of participants – nurses and students carrying flags and banners with the names of their schools. There are also children folk dance groups and adults. The parade moves through the city streets, with many spectators standing on the sidewalks. A fire brigade band is playing. At the stadium, someone is raising the national flag on the flagpole next to the city emblem. Two trumpeters are practicing before their performance. Another man is taking photographs. A man on the rostrum is speaking and receives applause. Some people are receiving diplomas. A delegation of three young men and two girls carries the city’s flag toward the stands and then takes it to its usual place. Two gliders fly overhead. Several more speeches are made, and three girls receive awards.
