description

Janusz Dybkowski (1954–2003) was a photographer and journalist who collaborated with numerous editorial offices, including “Tygodnik Piotrkowski” and “Dziennik Łódzki”. In Piotrków, he documented significant local events and the daily life of the city. His film collection consists of both footage of family life and documentary materials.

Two horse-drawn carts and a bus are parked on the street. The carts are moving through the village; one carries a folk band, while the other carries two elderly people. A large crowd is gathered in front of the municipal building. Two cars drive up fast; a man gets out of one and greets the people waiting on the street. Everyone enters the building. Speeches are made, and anniversary couples receive awards, congratulations, and flowers. A village orchestra plays, and a children folk dance group performs. Toasts are made. A shot of the May Day parade follows. Participants are carrying placards with slogans supporting the party, as well as banners and other symbols of workplaces and schools. The parade ends with folk dance groups and tractors.
