Part 2 Film shot in 1937 or 1938 in Skarżysko-Kamienna (Rejów). The Szypowski family spends time at a holiday resort. Maria and Jan’s son, Mirek, plays with the dogs, swims in the pool with his brother Janek, and plays on the beach. Maria watches the boys’ antics from the pergola by the beach. Part 3 The family arrives at the plot in Zalesie Dolne (Adamów) in a Tatra car. Jan chops wood. Maria’s mother, Marguerite Guyot, wearing a newspaper hat, knits in the open air. (Before retiring, Marguerite was a teacher at a high school in Bourges and an assistant to Rosa Bailly, poet and head of the Society of Friends of Poland in Bourges, working for Poland’s independence). Jan and Maria do various cleaning jobs on the plot. Krysia, the youngest of the three siblings, learns to ride her bike under her mother’s watchful eye. Mirek and Janek play between the trees. (AT)
