description

This collection of films was recorded by a married couple, Paweł and Joanna Morzyszek. Amateur films shot on 8 mm and Super 8 film reels document family life: celebrations, holidays, vacations, and travels. The archive covers materials from a 20-year period, from 1968 to 1988, which allow us to follow the growing up of Paweł and Joanna’s children – Ewa and Tomek – and their granddaughters – Agata and Anna.
Part 1
The camera captures a panorama of the city from an elevation. Then, it documents the launch of the smelter through a sequence of short shots showing its industrial interior and equipment.
Part 2
Brief shots taken during winter in Zaječar (Зајечар). The camera observes the architecture and people passing by. One of the frames shows a neon sign ‘Варшава’ (‘Warsaw’) on a building. The sequence ends with a snowy landscape of fields and a river.
Part 3
The sequence opens with a brief shot of a wall with photographs of half-naked models. Then, the camera shows a woman and a man in an office. One can see technical drawings on the wall behind them. The following frames show a group of people crossing a bridge, then the cameraman captures a series of snapshots from a walk through the winter city. Yugoslav flags are flying on one of the buildings.
