description

This collection of films was recorded by a married couple, Paweł and Joanna Morzyszek. Amateur films shot on 8 mm and Super 8 film reels document family life: celebrations, holidays, vacations, and travels. The archive covers materials from a 20-year period, from 1968 to 1988, which allow us to follow the growing up of Paweł and Joanna’s children – Ewa and Tomek – and their granddaughters – Agata and Anna.
Part 1
Joanna, Paweł, and their two children, Ewa and Tomek, are sightseeing in Sandomierz. They view the town hall facade and panorama from the tower, walk through the Opatów Gate, and visit the Cathedral Basilica of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Part 2
The family spends time in the allotment garden. Joanna is fooling around in front of the camera, pointing a rose at the lens, then picking tomatoes into a woven mesh bag. She smells the ripe fruit and describes their scent to the camera.
Part 3
The camera captures brief shots of a German Shepherd. The dog is standing on the balcony with Joanna and barking at the cameraman, then playing with Paweł Morzyszek.
Part 4
Various brief shots, presumably recorded during All Saints’ Day: a view of factory buildings shot from the housing estate, a man preparing a floral arrangement for the grave, the Morzyszek family picking out flowers in a greenhouse and decorating graves, and the cemetery.
