description

This collection of films was recorded by a married couple, Paweł and Joanna Morzyszek. Amateur films shot on 8 mm and Super 8 film reels document family life: celebrations, holidays, vacations, and travels. The archive covers materials from a 20-year period, from 1968 to 1988, which allow us to follow the growing up of Paweł and Joanna’s children – Ewa and Tomek – and their granddaughters – Agata and Anna.
Part 1
A series of shots of hotels in Miami Beach, Florida. Among the buildings, one can recognize the Doral and Eden Roc hotels. Paweł Morzyszek appears in some of the frames.
Part 2
Shots of crowded streets and skyscrapers in New York City. Christmas decorations, such as a Christmas tree and angels, can be seen in some places. Among the filmed buildings, one can recognize the neo-Gothic facade of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Manhattan.
Part 3
An elderly couple and a teenage girl pose in front of a large suburban house. The woman gives the girl a pair of shoes.
Part 4
The camera observes a Christmas parade making its way through the city streets. Young people, a band, and soldiers participate in the procession. They are followed by colorful floats with Christmas decorations: small animals, a snow-covered house, and a Christmas tree.
Part 5
A woman, a man, and a teenage girl are walking down a residential street in the suburbs. The camera captures a farewell scene: a woman, two men, and a girl hug and kiss, then wave to the camera. Finally, the couple and the teenage girl pose for a picture by the car.
