description

This collection of films was recorded by a married couple, Paweł and Joanna Morzyszek. Amateur films shot on 8 mm and Super 8 film reels document family life: celebrations, holidays, vacations, and travels. The archive covers materials from a 20-year period, from 1968 to 1988, which allow us to follow the growing up of Paweł and Joanna’s children – Ewa and Tomek – and their granddaughters – Agata and Anna.

The film was shot in 1973 in Włodzimierzów.
Part 1
Paweł and Tomek Morzyszek are working on their summer plot, setting up a fence – the boy is unrolling a metal mesh and digging holes in the ground, while the man carries water in buckets and mixes concrete. Joanna Morzyszek, who accompanies them, initially sits in a camping chair reading a book. Later she joins in the work and digs a hole for the fence. A slim person in a long coat watches her idly.
Part 2
Blurry shots. Several people are resting on deck chairs on the plot surrounded by forest. A fox terrier keeps them company.
Part 3
Blurry shots by the campfire. Two teenagers – presumably Ewa and Tomek – are making a fire. The girl brings brushwood from the forest. The boy chops small pieces of wood with a hatchet.
Part 4
Various shots from the plot. Paweł Morzyszek is varnishing a wooden well roof. Joanna and Ewa are turning the crank, while Tomek pulls up a bucket of water and waters a small tree. Two teenagers are fooling around in a hammock.
