description

This collection of films was recorded by a married couple, Paweł and Joanna Morzyszek. Amateur films shot on 8 mm and Super 8 film reels document family life: celebrations, holidays, vacations, and travels. The archive covers materials from a 20-year period, from 1968 to 1988, which allow us to follow the growing up of Paweł and Joanna’s children – Ewa and Tomek – and their granddaughters – Agata and Anna.

The film was shot in 1976 during a vacation in Jelitkowo.
Part 1
The camera captures family leisure time at the seaside. Joanna and Tomek Morzyszek are walking on the beach. Together with Ewa, they choose a spot and smooth out the sand with their feet, preparing the ground for spreading a blanket. Brief shots show various beach scenes – people putting the sunscreen on each other, sunbathing, swimming in the sea. At one point, a little girl appears in the film with her mother – Ewa talks to her and tries to help her overcome her shyness.
Part 2
A walk through Jelitkowo streets. Joanna, accompanied by her children – Ewa and Tomek – is strolling around the town. All three are well-dressed. Paweł Morzyszek appears in one of the frames. In the following shots, mother, father and daughter pose against a seascape backdrop. Later, the teenage boy takes their place.
Part 3
The camera captures seaside views – the promenade, beach, people sitting on benches with the sea in the background, the pier.
Part 4
A blurry, overexposed shot. Two teenage girls are climbing on a bas-relief decoration depicting women with garlands.
