description

This collection of films was recorded by a married couple, Paweł and Joanna Morzyszek. Amateur films shot on 8 mm and Super 8 film reels document family life: celebrations, holidays, vacations, and travels. The archive covers materials from a 20-year period, from 1968 to 1988, which allow us to follow the growing up of Paweł and Joanna’s children – Ewa and Tomek – and their granddaughters – Agata and Anna.

The film was made in 1977.
Part 1
Joanna is picking flowers in a meadow. In the background, a sailboat is moving across the bay. The woman poses by a fallen tree on the dunes. In the next frame, a man is pulling up grass.
Part 2
Joanna and another woman are examining pink hollyhocks and cosmos flowers in the garden. A man joins them in the next shot.
Part 3
Shots taken at the city market in Gdańsk. People are crowding around the stalls and browsing textiles. In the background, one can see townhouses by the Marina and the towers of St. Mary’s Church and the town hall.
Part 4
Joanna, accompanied by another woman, walks through the streets of Gdańsk’s Old Town. One of the shots shows townhouses along the Motława River with industrial chimneys billowing black smoke in the background. Other shots show townhouses on Piwna and Chlebnicka Streets – there, Joanna is looking at wooden souvenirs painted with Kashubian patterns.
Part 5
A series of shots on a cool, windy day by the sea. Joanna is walking on the sandbar. One can see sailboats in the background.
