description

This collection of films was recorded by a married couple, Paweł and Joanna Morzyszek. Amateur films shot on 8 mm and Super 8 film reels document family life: celebrations, holidays, vacations, and travels. The archive covers materials from a 20-year period, from 1968 to 1988, which allow us to follow the growing up of Paweł and Joanna’s children – Ewa and Tomek – and their granddaughters – Agata and Anna.
The film was made in 1988.
Part 1
Various short shots taken on the day of Agatka Miller’s First Communion: family gathered in front of the house and church, a group of several dozen boys in their ceremonial attire and girls in white dresses and wreaths waiting for the ceremony to begin. The family members visible in these shots include Agatka’s mother Ewa, father Jacek, younger sister Ania, both grandmothers, and uncle Tomek.
Part 2
Ewa is going for a walk with her two daughters and mother-in-law. The younger daughter Ania is riding a bike, while the older one is wearing her communion dress and has a white basket hanging around her neck. They meet a group of other girls in white dresses. The following frames show decorations and outdoor ceremonies – probably for the Corpus Christi celebrations. Ewa poses with her younger daughter, kisses her, and smiles at the camera.
Part 3
Agatka is walking on the sidewalk wearing a navy blue dress and carrying a yellow bag. Gray prefabricated apartment buildings are visible in the background.
Part 4
Two children – a boy and a girl – are playing with a white mouse.
