description

Tadeusz Friedrich was born on July 7, 1903, in Nowy Sącz. He was a multiple Polish champion in fencing and two-time bronze medalist at the Olympic Games: in Amsterdam (1928) and Los Angeles (1932). During his trip to the United States, he met his future wife, Felicja Schabińska (1909-1996), an outstanding athlete, multiple record holder and Polish champion. He took part in the Warsaw Uprising. After ending his sports career, he got involved in coaching at several fencing clubs in Kraków. Photography was his passion. In his free time, he documented family life with a 16mm film camera.
Part 1
The film was made in Krościenko in 1949. Shots of the bridge over the Dunajec river. Felicja is riding a bicycle with her daughters Anna (Anusia) and Irena (Kuka) on a sandy road. The girls are fooling around by the Krościenko sign and, together with their mother, they pose for the camera in a wooden hay wagon.
Part 2
Irena and Anna are feeding chickens in front of the house. Then, they are taking care of a small kitten.
Part 3
Felicja, Irena and Anna are spending time by the river. The girls are floating wooden boats on the water and climbing small rocks. Shots of a raftsman floating on a raft down the river and the surrounding fields. Irena and Anusia are waving from the balcony to their father who is filming them.
