description

Tadeusz Friedrich was born on July 7, 1903, in Nowy Sącz. He was a multiple Polish champion in fencing and two-time bronze medalist at the Olympic Games: in Amsterdam (1928) and Los Angeles (1932). During his trip to the United States, he met his future wife, Felicja Schabińska (1909-1996), an outstanding athlete, multiple record holder and Polish champion. He took part in the Warsaw Uprising. After ending his sports career, he got involved in coaching at several fencing clubs in Kraków. Photography was his passion. In his free time, he documented family life with a 16mm film camera.

The film was made in Zawoja in 1950 or 1951.
Part 1
The Friedrich daughters, Irena (Kuka) and Anna (Anusia), are looking out the windows and waving to Felicja who is walking towards the house. The girls slip through the gap in the fence and run towards their mother. Later, they admire the views together.
Part 2
Irena and Anusia are exercising outdoors – doing forward bends, backbends, and cartwheels.
Part 3
The family is spending time by the river – Felicja is sunbathing on a blanket while the girls are playing in the water.
Part 4
Felicja, Irena and Anusia are acting out a fairy tale scene in the forest, and later they are playing with balloons by the river and in the yard in front of the house. As Irena recalls, the balloons, brought by Tadeusz from his foreign trip, were a source of great excitement for her and Anna.
