description

Tadeusz Friedrich was born on July 7, 1903, in Nowy Sącz. He was a multiple Polish champion in fencing and two-time bronze medalist at the Olympic Games: in Amsterdam (1928) and Los Angeles (1932). During his trip to the United States, he met his future wife, Felicja Schabińska (1909-1996), an outstanding athlete, multiple record holder and Polish champion. He took part in the Warsaw Uprising. After ending his sports career, he got involved in coaching at several fencing clubs in Kraków. Photography was his passion. In his free time, he documented family life with a 16mm film camera.
Part 1
Year 1971. Footage of the wedding of Anna, the younger daughter of Tadeusz and Felicja. Well-dressed guests are waiting for the newlyweds in front of the church in Wola Justowska, Kraków. Anna and Marek arrive in a Syrena 105 car and enter the church.
Part 2
The film was made during holidays in Kosarzyska in 1971. Felicja, her daughter Irena, and her son-in-law Jan are spending time outdoors – relaxing in deck chairs, eating currants brought by Felicja, and, during a walk, sticking maple ‘noses’ to their faces. Besides typical family shots, the author also films a panorama of the nearby valley.
