description

The films from the Surowiec family archive were recorded in the first half of the 1980s, probably between 1983 and 1984. Most of them were shot during business trips abroad.
Part 1
The film was shot in the gardens of the Polish People’s Republic Embassy in Ankara. The camera observes a woman at leisure – picking flowers, strolling around, knitting on a bench. In the background, one can see a neoclassical facade of the embassy building with an eagle in the tympanum. In one of the shots, the woman poses with Adam Mickiewicz’s torso sculpted by Stanisław Kazimierz Ostrowski.
Part 2
Various short scenes from a modern district of a Turkish city, presumably Ankara. The camera captures the surroundings – pedestrians, cars, buildings. In one of the close-ups, a minaret is visible in the distance.
Part 3
The camera alternately portraits the woman and the man. The woman is smoking cigarettes at a table on a cafe terrace. There are two bottles of Coca-Cola on the table. In the background, there is a large body of water – a lake or a bay. The man poses against this landscape, smoking a cigarette.
