description

Walery Pisarek was a well-known linguist, media expert and popularizer of science. He bought a camera in the early 60s, during a business trip to Hungary, where he went as the artistic director of the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Nowa Huta community centre.

This film consists mainly of genre scenes, recorded during family trips. The Pieniny Mountains, Krościenko, 1963. The daughter of Walery Pisarek and Krystyna Pisarek, Dorota, on a walk with her maternal grandmother, Konstancja Harrerowa née Kamińska. The girl plays on the pipe and in the game of graces. In the following scenes, Dorota with her mother, grandmother and aunt (her father’s sister, Felicja Myszurska) cross a rather rushing stream. Felicia’s husband, Henryk Myszurski, standing on the other side, looks at it. The mom and the daughter fall over in the water. The frightened child cries. Gdańsk and Sopot, probably 1961. Dorota and her grandmother walk by the fountain of Neptune, cross the bridge over the Motława River. Dorota plays on the beach. Masuria, 1961. Krystyna and Walery Pisarek during a canoe trip. They fish, kayak, camp in the wild. Jaszczów in the Lublin region, probably 1961 or 1962. The family farm. Walery Pisarek helps with renovation work and leads cows. His sister (Felicja Myszurska) and her husband (Henryk) ride away in a motorcycle with a sidecar. The scenes from Jaszczów also feature the wife of the author of the film (Krystyna Pisarek), their daughter (Dorota), Walery Pisarek’s mother (Wanda Chaciewiczowa née Bagińska), her second husband (Marian Chaciewicz) and the author’s niece (Elżbieta Myszurska). The scene in which Krystyna Pisarek rides a Peugeot scooter was recorded in southern Poland, most likely near Cracow, while the winter open air and family sledding games – in Nowa Huta in 1967 or 1968. The film ends with shots of Dubrovnik, in which Krystyna and Walery Pisarek were together at a scientific conference. We can see Krystyna Pisarek: at the airport, in the background, there is a JAT (Yugoslav Aviation Company) plane, on the famous defensive walls of the city, at the cannon barrel known from many photos and postcards, admiring the panorama of the city and the coast from a cruise ship.
