description

Zbigniew Bełżecki (1914–2009) worked by day as a chemist in the research department of the Cracow Pharmaceutical Plant “Polfa”. His film archive consists of records of trips with his wife Jadwiga and daughter Marzena, as well as motorcycle trips around Europe.

The trips were always preceded by long preparations, and after their completion Zbigniew wrote down the recorded audio diaries and created books from them on his own. He was also passionate about nature and photography.

An account of a trip along the route of the castles of the Loire in France. The film begins with an artistic charts made by Zbigniew, depicting the route of his journey through France. The tour begins on the island of Mont Saint-Michel in the English Channel. Zbigniew, together with other tourists, visits the island and the Michelangelo sanctuary located on top of it. The next chart shows the itinerary of a tour along the route of the castles of the Loire, starting at Mont Saint-Michel and continuing through Saumur, Chinon, Blois and Chartres to Paris.
A mosaic of shots of castle visits and French villages’ life. During his journey, Zbigniew views castles of Saumur, Rigny-Ussé, Montrichard, Azay and Villandry and the abbey of Fontevraud, among others.
