description

Andrzej Wysokiński was born on July 11, 1934 in Marki, near Warsaw. After graduating from the Academy of Physical Education, he worked as a fencing and skiing coach, as well as a PE teacher at a school in Radziechowy. Andrzej’s first films were records of everyday life in Łódź with his wife Elżbieta and son Marek. As a sports enthusiast, he also recorded skiing competitions, tennis court games or foreign trips to the mountains. After separating from Elżbieta, he settled in the Beskid region of Radziechowy with his partner Jadwiga and daughter Jolanta. Andrzej recorded family films first with an 8mm tape camera, but in later years, as technology developed, he changed equipment and used VHS and digital cameras.

The film was made in Łódź and Szczyrk in the 70s.

Part 1

Andrzej teaches his children and the wife of his friend, Gaston Marecau, to play tennis on the backyard tennis court.

Part 2

A mosaic of genre scenes – shots of people playing Palant, people playing tennis on the court, dog competition in herding sheep, sailboats, people riding horses on the beach and of Marek with a friend.

Part 4

Jadwiga, who does not yet have a driving license, drives a blue Skoda.

Part 5

Jadwiga, Andrzej (in red trousers) and Marek ski in Szczyrk. Marek improves his skills, falls over and rides the rarely-practiced technique “knee to knee” (also called “knee under knee”).
