Maciej Drygas – the initiator of the Polish Archive of Home Films, a film and radio director, screenwriter, professor at the Leon Schiller Film School in Łódź.
After graduating from the Directing Department of the Institute of Cinematography in Moscow (WGIK), he worked as an assistant of Krzysztof Zanussi and Krzysztof Kieślowski. His films and radio programmes have been broadcast and awarded all over the world.

Etude entitled “The Old Bear Is Heavily Sleeping”, made in 1974 by Maciej’s friend Barbara Staszewska for the entrance exam to the cinematography department of the Łódź Film School in Łódź. 
The film begins with a scene of a murder of a young man (played by Maciej Drygas). Children spend the day in kindergarten, play and have dinner. The girls wash the floor. After the meal comes the time of a disliked nap. After the nap, the children sit on the floor and listen to the teacher (played by Barbara), whom they unexpectedly attack.
