description

Eugeniusz Małanicz was born in 1904 in Zelczyn. He was an electrical engineer by education, and a passionate moviegoer and collector of films and film cameras. In 1925, he founded a travelling cinema “Oaza”, touring the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. Although the business went bankrupt after a year, the passion for cinematography remained with Eugeniusz until his death. In December 1939, he moved with his family to Warsaw and settled in Saska Kępa. An important place in his life was Giby – a village in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, to which he traveled from the 40s. There he rested, kayaked and took pictures. Eugeniusz died in Giby in 1982, and the hood of his beloved car (Hansa) rested on his tombstone.

The film was made on April 16th, 1983 in Warsaw on the wedding day of Tomasz Przybylski and the daughter of Eugeniusz and Katarzyna Małanicz. The bride and groom leave the tenement house at 8 Elsterska Street in Saska Kępa and drive to the Civil Registry Office in the Szustra Palace. Katarzyna and Tomasz are accompanied by their mothers, Anna Małanicz and Alina Przybylska. After reaching the place, the young people greet the guests waiting for them and enter the building. During the ceremony, Katarzyna and Tomasz exchange wedding rings and, together with witnesses (Joanna Szudrowicz and Michał Dadlez), put the necessary signatures. After leaving the office, the gathered guests congratulate the bride and groom, shower them with coins and give them flowers. Katarzyna, Tomasz, Joanna and Michał pose for a photo.
